Election 2008
OK it is over, or maybe it is just beginning. One of the great things about this country is choice and with choice comes responsibility. We choose who we wish to associate with, work with, socialize with and usually those are people who have our same moral, political and unfortunately financial views. That being said, on Tuesday November 4, 2008 this country voted for a new President. His being black is insignificant as far as I am concerned. However I can understand the happiness of the black community in Mr. Obamas win over Mr. McCain, in that it proves that all Americans can come together across the racial lines. However this is no free ride and brings to question as to whether affirmative action is really needed in today's environment.
Now is the time that we all come together as Amercians to get through the financial and foreign relations crisis; and I do believe that the crisis is small, but acute, workable, fixable and as long as private agendas are not inserted into the mix. We need to support Present-Elect Obama now and into his Presidency. Do I think that the now President Bush did a bad job? Let me just say that he could have done better. I believe that he had and still has a great compassion for the citizenry of this nation and that history will prove him correct in many of his decisions.
I will be watching very closely at who is picked for cabinet positions. Two right off the bat that have me concerned are John Kerry for Secretary of State and Jon Corzine as Treasury Secretary. I believe that the people spoke in 2004 that they did not want John Kerry near the White House, for me that holds true today. Something about him justs makes me unable to trust him. With regards to Jon Corzine the financial affairs of the State of New Jersey is in shambles and I feel that someone who cannot get their own house in order has no business trying to now fix the block, if you know what I mean.
