My Thoughts on Everything

Saturday, August 16, 2014

Well obviously I did not meet that self-imposed deadline.  I think that when I make a medical appointment for next week I am going to ask for something to cut down on my stress/anxiety.  Being a caregiver takes an enormous amount of self control, sometimes without the desired affect.  Although I am working on it, it is hard to watch a loved one slipping into the ablyss.

Starting 8/1/14 I am going to write a short blurb on events of the day, both mine and those of interest to me.

Hard to Believe it is almost 1 year

That is one year where I have not written anything, well not here anyway. I really have to start putting my thoughts in order and then down on paper. There is just so much out there that should be discussed, both pros and con. Although to be fair if I'm writing a pro comment then there is no con, well not in my mind anyway.

Ailing Kennedy asks for speedy replacement process

First the Commonwealth of MA, or I should say the Demonuts in the State were afraid that the previous Governor would appoint someone fast when Kerry was running for President and changed the appointing procedure to an election. Now Kennedy, who is so full of himself wants the procedure changed again to ensure the swift appointment of another Demonut.

Folks have to realize that you can't have it both ways. An election is the only fair way to have someone fill the position. I personally don't like the appointment process because it is pure politics and the appointing official (Governor) can legally appoint him/herself. With the way Congress takes on legislation, both houses would probably do better with less in each. I would really like the chamber numbers cut in half. We don't need 435 Congressman and 100 Senators.
216 and 50 is enough. Don't even get me started on a voting member for DC.

But back to my basic comment in the first paragraph. Let the election cycle start now if Ted Kennedy wants to ensure that a Senator is in place there is an election in November; so he can resign now with an effective date of the beginning of the new session and a successor can be elected.

Facebook Test Results

Okay this is good. The last test said that I was psychologically unbalanced, pathological liar, and an uncontrollabe sexist. Nice to be moving up in the world.

Richard took the quiz "What's Your Myers-Briggs Personality Type?" and got the result: ESFJ (Extraversion, Sensing, Feeling, Judgment)!
You are warmhearted, conscientious, and cooperative. You want harmony in your environment, and work with determination to establish it. You like to work with others to complete tasks accurately and on time. You are loyal and follow through even in small matters. You notice what others need in their day-by-day lives and try to provide it. You want to be appreciated for who you are and for what you contribute. Famous people with your ESFJ personality include: Bill Clinton, Sally Field, Danny Glover, Terry Bradshaw, Mary Tyler Moore and Nancy Kerrigan.

Election 2008

OK it is over, or maybe it is just beginning. One of the great things about this country is choice and with choice comes responsibility. We choose who we wish to associate with, work with, socialize with and usually those are people who have our same moral, political and unfortunately financial views. That being said, on Tuesday November 4, 2008 this country voted for a new President. His being black is insignificant as far as I am concerned. However I can understand the happiness of the black community in Mr. Obamas win over Mr. McCain, in that it proves that all Americans can come together across the racial lines. However this is no free ride and brings to question as to whether affirmative action is really needed in today's environment.

Now is the time that we all come together as Amercians to get through the financial and foreign relations crisis; and I do believe that the crisis is small, but acute, workable, fixable and as long as private agendas are not inserted into the mix. We need to support Present-Elect Obama now and into his Presidency. Do I think that the now President Bush did a bad job? Let me just say that he could have done better. I believe that he had and still has a great compassion for the citizenry of this nation and that history will prove him correct in many of his decisions.

I will be watching very closely at who is picked for cabinet positions. Two right off the bat that have me concerned are John Kerry for Secretary of State and Jon Corzine as Treasury Secretary. I believe that the people spoke in 2004 that they did not want John Kerry near the White House, for me that holds true today. Something about him justs makes me unable to trust him. With regards to Jon Corzine the financial affairs of the State of New Jersey is in shambles and I feel that someone who cannot get their own house in order has no business trying to now fix the block, if you know what I mean.

Clinton Touts "Baby Bond" For Kids Futures

Another feel good initiative. You thought that the illegal immigrants were coming in fast before, just wait until now that you can get $5000.00. The problem with this whole scenario is that our laws state that anyone born in this country is a US citizen, thus a child born by illegals is in the eyes of the government a US citizen and would be eligible for the $5000.00. If we were to change the law that the child had to be born to a legal resident or American citizen I would be more comfortable in at least listening to the initiative. Secondly who pays for this? I can see it now there will be a box on the 1040 asking if you would like to donate to the fund. Selecting no gets you an audit and selecting yes would somehow be later interpreted as yes monthly for eternity.

Everytime we turn around someone is trying to take money out of mine and your pocket. I work hard for my money and we donate to charities of our choosing. I do not need to have another government mandated tax pushed down my throat, and neither do you.

We need to address the illegals before authorizing any payments to anybody. There are approximately 4 million babies born yearly in this country, according to the article in Philadelphia Bulletin of 10/1/07. It did not give a breakdown of legal vs illegal but do the math based upon being born on this soil. That's 200 Million dollars a year. Now lets remember that some connected politico is going to administer this fund with of course a 6 figure salary and staff, regardless that there would not be a payout for a least 18 years.

No this is a bad plan all around and is only being proposed as a way to gather votes.

American People

I am really getting upset when Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid standing at a podium and stating "The American People.............................". They do not speak for me and I am an American. I know that this is trivial but that is how I feel. I would have no problem with them stating " Based on feedback a majority of American People....................." Just don't say The American People. Just look at the Congress and seeing the differences would prove that there is division. At this point I'm not stating who is right and who is wrong, just don't include me in a catch all phrase without my express consent, or everyone else for that matter.

Speeding

Someone very close to me got another speeding ticket. I'm really pissed because there is no excuse for speeding. If you are late, too bad; plan your time accordingly. Thus I believe that I have come up with a workable solution. First off we have to realize that we do not and will not police ourselves. Parents deny that there children speed and only acknowledge there is a problem when there is an accident, and then it was the other drivers fault. If there is a speeding ticket it was because the officer issuing the ticket does not like YOUR child. That being said, statistics do not lie, our young drivers are being killed on a daily basis because of excessive speeding, inattention and inexperience. To make matters worse they are taking the lives of others with them. It is not just the young that are driving fast. I see on a daily basis the hurried parent with the soccer kids in the car, the construction worker in his oversixzed pickup racing to the next job and there is even the police officer who does not want to wait in traffic; turns his lights on to get out and then resumes his driving,of course always in the left lane faster than the pace of normal traffic.

Since we now have the technology to do just about anything I am going to propose the following, after a little more research but will give to the gist of the idea now. All modern cars have computers which run all aspects of the vehicle. I see no reason why there cannot be a receiver on the vehicle which will receive a signal that tell the vehicle how fast it can go and set the speed governor accordingly. These transmitters can be on top of street lights, change signals, or anywhere they can best be received. If the speed limit is 25 MPH then the signal for that area can be 33, just in case someone is driving slow and needs to be passed. The signal can be changed from a central location and can even be changed when road conditions warrant it.

There would be no exceptions: I can hear all of the special interest folks now from the ambulance squads to the volunteer firefighters. Bottom line is if PennDot or anyother state agency has certified that a particular piece of road can only be safely navigated at a particular speed then that is the speed to be traveled. This would also apply to 18 wheelers because for the most part I have never seen a driver of one of these rigs drive the posted speed limit. I do not want to be in the back of an ambulance which crashes because the driver was trying to get me to the hospital 3 minutes sooner. Todays medical rigs have everything necessary to keep you alive until you reach your destination. Even police vehicles should have to conform but be allowed a 15 MPH higher limit this would allow them to intercept other car and for the most part the increased speed in a city/town environment is all that is needed. This would preclude taking home bad habits, if you know what I mean.

Now for research............ I post another comment when research is completed.

Selling the New Jersey Turnpike

So Senator Lesniak is proposing a bill to sell the NJ Turnpike. I would suspect that he has already found a buyer to invest and I would not be surprised if Jim McGreevey was somehow connected to the prospective buyer.

This is bad economics if looked at from all sides. First off the NJ government does not own the Turnpike it is owned by the citizens of NJ and managed by the Turnpike Authority or whatever name they are going by now since I believe that the Parkway and turnpike authoity have merged. (To save money no doubt). Rest assure that any money received on any sale will immediately be squandered by your elected officials. Look at history they have squandered every dollar that has fallen into there hands. NJ is a cesspool of coruption, nepotism and double dippers. The NJ politicos are unable to police their own ranks and just line their pockets with taxpayer money.

If the pike is sold it will cost $30.00 for a passenger car to go from one end to the other. Trucks will find alternate routes, roads will be more conjested and when the money is gone the Parkway and Atlantic City Expressway will be sold, creating more of the same.

I'm so thankful that I don't live in New Jersey anymore.

2008 Presidential Race

I think that we have way too many politicos with uncontrolled egos. Have you seen the list of folks throwing there hat into the ring; totally unbelieveable. It is really a joke in that they all believe that they are truly qualified for the position; in one's own mind possibly. What really scares me is that Hillary Clinton is probably the most qualified of the bunch. Not that I want her or endorse her for the position. The fact that she was the first lady for 8 years and I'm sure was privy to many states secrets which some of the other candidates can only dream about and she has successfully filled a Senate term in her own right.

However history is against her in that during the last 40 years a Senator has not been elected as the President. It has either been a sitting/former vice-president or a Governor of a State. Not to say that the cycle cannot be broken. I was once when John Kennedy was elected, although many still fell that his father bought the election for him. Prior to that it was Eishenhower, not a politician but he did have experience in leading. However history shows that he was a poor President and was really over his head. Truman was a sitting VP when he became President and prior to that Roosevelt was the Governor of New York State. So basically Eisenhower was the lone wolf who broke the mold, being a great General and the country warmed up to him.

So where does that leave us today. We don't have Generals anymore who have the eye of the American people or that can navigate the politcal system. Big dollars control who is going to run and run fast. Unfortunately there will be alot of talking heads during the next 23 months, most saying nothing new or criticizes the other candidates for headlines.

Let's not forget the media who will fuel every statement made so that the papers keep publishing and the bloggers keep writing. Don't you just love exploratory committes? Inessence this is a committee that can raise big bucks to see if they want to run. If they don't they have a big party with the capital raised.

As stated in an earlier blog of mind it would be in the best interest of all concerned that a candidate must resign his or her current office to run for another office. I did not vote for and elect a Senator to put aside his/her responsibilities, collect a pay check and run for another office; and please don't tell me that they have staffers, for I did not elect them either.

The Election Nightmare

I say nightmare because as a Republican the results of the 11/7/06 were totally preventable. The republicans have done a lot over the last 12 years, unfortunately what they have not done is keep the house in order, at all levels. All thought the Iraq war is, was and still is a huge marketing nightmare it is a situation which must be resolved. President Bush should have dumped Rumsfeld 18 months ago. At least this would have shown that he is open too and willing to accept change. When many of the senior officers within the Pentagon and on the field call for a change in strategy you must listen and make the appropriate adjustments. When the war is brought to you live everyday by the liberal media (Yes, I am bias to the media I mean how many times are you going to show the same house blown up nad the same child holding a doll) you have to adjust.

The Mark Foley was totally horrible in that it was a he said, he said. Who knew what, when did they know it and why was nothing done about it. One thing is certain Mark Foley was doing this longer than 12 years ago, but it came to light during the current Administration and the current Congress and neither took aggressive action to bring swift accountability and correct the situation, by censure or expulsion.

At the local level the mud from both sides was thicker and more of it than I have ever seen in my political life. There has to be a better way to run an election, there is a total waste of money by all concerned. Thus I have recommendation; of course it would never be implemented because of the monies at stake, who gets what and when. How about this:

1. Those running in a Primary election cannot send out literature, make unsolicited phone calls, have cable or radio spots 6 weeks before the Primary election date.
2. Those running in the General election cannot send out literature, make unsolicited phone calls
have cable or radio spots 8 weeks before the General election date.
3. If you are running at the local level, Council, Mayor your budget cannot exceed 10 times the amount of your pay. (25K)
3. If you are running at the County level your budget cannot exceed 15 times the amount of your pay. (525K)
4. If you are running at the State level your budget cannot exceed 20 times the amount of your pay. (1.5 Mil)
5. If you are running for President you cannot exceed 50 times the amount of your pay.
(25 Mil)

There is only one down fall to the above. If adopted the politico's would increase their pay proportionately to pay for their elections.

I do look forward to 2008, becasue I really don't see any front runner's from either party. Too bad I'm prohibited from running because of the HATCH ACT. I'd make one phone call to Tony Soprano and have him put in the fix. (.25 cents)

Karr's family offers book, movie rights

Uodate 8/29/06

OK, Karr is not going to be charged. It seems that he is just a disturbed individual. Although he is still wanted on child pornographt charges. So the premise of the below is still relevant with regards to profit from the deed.

When is enough, enough. Here we have family members ready to auction off movie and book rights which, first of all they do not have , nor own. The first thing that the assigned judge should do is strip any participant in this case from profitting from this unholy disgusting senseless murder. If family members were truly concerned about Karr getting expert needed counsel they would be mortgaging their homes, or maybe they don't have faith in the fact that Karr is innocent. I use the term innocent extremely loosely. I am a true believer that everyone should have there day in court. If they cannot afford an attorney one will be appointed by the preciding judge.

This is nothing more than just a grab for publicity and possibly some profit on the side. I would be ashamed just to acknowledge that I was a family member. Even overlooking the fact that he has not been proven quilty of JonBenet's murder look at what he was caught with and where he was. This guy is a pervert and deserves all that he gets.

I would be extremely surprised if the defense does not try to plead insanity. Whether temporary or not defense attorney's love to throw a shadow of doubt on these types of crimes, because how could a sane person do such a thing. So they play on our sense of fairness, or lack thereof on how a mentally ill person is not responsible for their acts.

If I was able to change 2 elements of our penal code or defense tactics they would be that the mental condition at the time of the alledged crime is irrelevent and your upbringing in life and life surroundings were also immaterial. Hardnosed, possibly. Fair, definitely. Everyone has choices in life and we can all find a way to walk away from a bad situation if we try hard enough. Mental illness is to convenient of an excuse. Defense phychiatrists always find the clients disturbed and and the other side finds them without any mental illness, or at least they know what they have done and right from wrong.

So find Karr guiltyand give him life in prison. I would normally state that he be excuted but this would be worse, a child sex killer who wishes he was a female. "Oh he will be fine" Finally the Karr family does not profit from the circus this is about to become.

New Orleans Election

I really have mixed emotions on the whole voting scenario. One one side I feel that only those New Orleaners who came back deserve to vote and elect whoever they feel will bring New Orleans back to it's former self; actually I hope it's much better. I have a problem with busing people in who, although former residents, evacuated during Katrina, have know idea when they will again be residents of New Orleans. Thus they have elected a representative, in this case a Mayor, who really was not selected by the people currently living in New Orleans.

On the other hand we have people who have been displaced, not of their own choosing. Some of these former residents I'm sure plan to fo back to New Orleans some day, maybe. If they find new work in there host city, better paying jobs, better housing, are they really going to return. Are they going to vote in the host towns election. How will this be monitored? A dozen questions come to mind.

A national election registration card has been discussed; it has gone nowhere. The politically correct establishment (ie., Democrats) see this as disenfransment (sp). The excuse is that the poor, elderly and minorities will not be able to get the cards. I really have to ask this question.
How do they vote now? How do they purchase their food? How do they pay their bills? How would having a voter registration card, tied into a national database stop anyone from voting.
It could tell that on any given date a vote was cast for a particular office. Results could also be instantaneous, since everything is electronic.

Why does an election have to end an the end of the day? In other words why can't we do it right and announce the results a day, two or three later after in is confirmed that one voter casted one vote. This country spends an obsence amount of money for elections and than want the results in less than 4 hours after the poles close. I think that if candidates can spend 1 year campaigning, they can wait up to 7 days for the results. Another point, absentee ballots should be counted no matter what. In most cases they are counted when the results are close. If we want a total picture of who voted and where the votes went then all casted balloted should be counted.

Sorry went on a little rant. Getting back to New Orleans. I hope for all concerned that Ray Nagin puts his attitude in his pocket and leaves it there. Unfortunately New Orleans had a tragedy, it takes time to heal all of the wounds. I hope that the folks who cast a vote from there host cities make it back to New Orleans soon, but I also feel that they should not be able to vote in anymore elections until they do.

Pass Time Pleasures

There was once a time when I thought that I could play the piano. Actually I can play Lady of Spain for several notes, but then it is down hill from there. Now my wife on the other hand is pretty good in being a novelist in playing the piano. I got her a fullsize key board, OK almost fullsize she said it must have 88 keys, I told her to delete some of the high and low notes when playing. She can read music well and put it into a musical note that does not cause the dogs to leave the room. I on the other hand can only read the words on the sheet; the symbols are not to my understanding.

However I do pose well and can tap the ivory with the best of them! Keeping in mind that the strings have been removed for the safety of all concerned.

Getting Started

This is certianly new to me. I have never been one to hold my comments; certainly when with a group of people. However now I'm out in the cyberworld and will have to tone my comments for what may come back to bite me in some future time.

Whats has me fired up?, everything. I have to give this some really good thinking so that thought to paper is clearly and concisely presented as intended.
